Hardware: Computers, Monitors, Printers

System compatability and the ability to support devices is critical in our technology environment. Please do not purchase systems and equipment that is not on the approved list. If you are unsure, please contact the technology team at 79595.
The district receives special academic bid pricing through Compuwave.

Software

All software purchases should be approved by technology prior to ordering. Certain software can create conflicts with other software on the district image. We do not support alpha or beta version software. To ensure money well spent, please talk with ITS before ordering.
NOTE:
Software labeled alpha or beta is an early, unstable release version and can cause problems with your system. ITS cannot assist you if you are using this type of software.

Approved Handheld Devices for email

With the new Exchange email system, any smartphone that supports ActiveSync should be able to access your district email. Please note: CUSD Technology ONLY SUPPORTS Option 2 (data only) Blackberry users and their devices. Option 1 Blackberry users need to contact Execu-tech. All others should contact their support providers. See these instructions for the iPhone. Configuration settings are the same for other ActiveSync devices.

Phones

Voice over IP (VoIP) phones use the network to transmit voice data as opposed to traditional phones which use POTS lines. We are currently configuring and deploying IP phones at several sites in the district. VoIP phones need network priority (QoS) assigned to their data packets or you will experience garbled conversation. We are currently working on configuring QoS for our VoIP phones.

If you are experiencing issues with any phone (VoIP or traditional) please submit a workorder rather than contact technology help desk. The Operations team will respond first. If it is determined to be a network issue, they will contact us directly.

Security Cameras

Most secondary schools have the Pelco DX7000 system installed. Elementary schools have the Pelco Endura system. These systems do send data and communicate over our network.

Plant Operations are the first responders to camera issues, so please submit a work order. If the issue is determined to be network related, Operations will contact us directly.
